A pair of 30# class White Amur or “Grass Carp”

The White Amur or “Grass Carp” as most bowfishers call them, is an asian fish species brought to the US to control vegetation in aquaculture ponds. During flooding periods the fish escaped and found their way into large river systems like the Mississippi where they really started to spread. In Lake of the Ozarks we find them in shallow water where you wouldn’t think a 30-50 lbs. fish would be and when startled they typically make a run for deeper water and the shots can be challenging and highly rewarding. Grass carp are a great bonus fish to have available and can make a trip with just one fish.
